The region’s newest food event gears up for the 2nd annual “smorgasbord in the street,” scheduled for Sunday, June 7 from noon to 5 p.m.

The festival has recruited twice as many restaurants as last year and promises to set a new standard for celebrating local food and cuisine. Mark your calendar and bring your re-usable shopping bags!

Broad Appétit is hosted by the Downtown Neighborhood Association to benefit Meals on
Wheels and The Central Virginia Food Bank. Food and cash donations will be accepted at the event. Broad Appétit is a Virginia Green event and works to minimize its impact on the environment by recycling, using compostable serving materials, utilizing solar panels for power and providing propane for the chefs to cook.

First Fridays is held on the first Friday of each month, rain or shine. This unique cultural event showcases Richmond's thriving arts community, focusing on the diverse arts and cultural venues located along the Historic Broad Street Corridor. Participating galleries include 1708 Gallery, Ingalls Gallery, Curated Culture's Cornerstone Gallery, Gallery 5, and Quirk Gallery among other.

In addition to bringing visitors and economic activity Downtown, the main goal is to promote appreciation of Richmond’s rich arts community. The public attends various art exhibitions at participating galleries and alternative exhibition spaces within walking distance of the Historic Broad Street District. Because the program is free, First Fridays attracts a diverse population of all ages, inviting everyone to experience the arts directly and learn more about it in a safe and comfortable, yet stimulating setting.

The galleries are within walking distance of Virginia Commonwealth University, The Jefferson Hotel, Linden Row Inn, Richmond Convention Center, and the Downtown Marriott Hotel and only minutes from Downtown, Historic Fan District, or Northside.
