Mayoral forum

In an effort to increase citizen discussion and participation in this November’s mayoral election, DNA Richmond is working with the League of Women Voters and Style Weekly on a partnership to produce a three-part series of mayoral forums called “Richmond Decision ’08,” kicking off Sept. 23, 2008. Each of these forums has the backing of our various groups, and has been designed to address a variety of topics.

Forum I: “The Future of Downtown Richmond”
Renaissance Conference Center
Sept. 23, 2008

Topics to include: development, master plan, revitalization, preservation, the river and core city services to downtown businesses.

Forum II: “Education and the Cultural Landscape”
Virginia Historical Society
Oct. 14, 2008

Topics to include: arts, culture, tourism and Richmond Public Schools

Forum III: “Living and Working in Richmond”
Library of Virginia
Oct. 28, 2008

Topics to include: growth, safety, environmentalism, workforce issues, housing, health care and regionalism.

Each forum would begin with a 5:30 p.m. beverage reception, to be followed by a forum from 6-8 p.m. Moderator Aaron Gilcrist and a media panel of three will pose questions to the candidates. These forums will follow a format designed to give each candidate a fair platform to express their ideas.
